This one-day classroom based VHF radio course teaches you how to operate a marine band VHF radio fitted with DSC (Digital Selective Calling). You will also learn about Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons, Personal Locator Beacons, Search and Rescue Transponders and how they all operate. We use current radio equipment throughout our training course

By the end of your day in the classroom you will be confident in the use of VHF Radios and have a good working knowledge of radio procedures.

Pass the short exam at the end of the course at the end of the course and you will be qualified to operate a marine band VHF Radio.

The course is 10 hours long with 3 hours being self study. The exam is at the end of the course.

Course price £55, the exam is £60 payable to the RYA. You will need a passport sized photogtaph.
