Bowmoor Sailing Club Optimist Open 2016

Saturday 4th June

  1. Organising Authority: The organising authority is Bowmoor Sailing Club.
  2. Rules: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016, the prescriptions of the RYA, the class rules and the event sailing instructions.
  3. Entrance Fee: £15 payable on the day.
  4. Clothing: Adequate personal buoyancy shall be worn at all times when afloat, in accordance with class and club rules. Wet or dry suits that cover the trunk and legs may also be required if the weather is inclement: this will be announced before and at the briefing.
  5. Eligibility and Entry: The regatta is open to all Optimist dinghies sailed by helms less than 16 years of age on 31st December 2016.
  6. Schedule: Registration will be in the clubhouse from 0900. Hot lunches are available, and must be pre-ordered at registration for competitors (so that we can lose the minimum amount of sailing time, other family members are asked to order hot meals either before or after the sailors’ lunch break). The galley will be open for hot food during the day.
  • There will be a briefing in the clubhouse for all competitors at 0945.
  • It is intended to hold 4 races. The earliest warning signal will be at 1025.
  • Subject to entries, there will be separate starts for Main and Regatta fleets.
    1. Measurement: Measurement certificates are not required at registration, but the race committee may ask any competitor to produce a measurement certificate (including a current buoyancy endorsement), submit to a buoyancy check, or rectify safety defects before going afloat.
    2. Sailing instructions: Sailing instructions will be available at registration.  Courses will be announced at the briefing.
    3. Venue: Bowmoor Sailing Club is off the A417 between Fairford and Lechlade. Additional details on bowmoor.co.uk.
    4. Scoring and prizes: If more than two races are completed then one score will be excluded. One completed race will make the event valid for that fleet.

The prize giving will be held as soon as possible after the last race.

    1. Insurance: Competitors are required to hold third party insurance for racing of at least £2,000,000.
    2. Accommodation: There is free camping for tents, caravans and motor homes on site on Friday and Saturday nights.
