Coaching sessions will use a variety of boats and be suitable for all ages and sailing ability post level 2 and beyond.

This spring we plan to run the following groups ;

Beginner fleet  – for those fresh from their level 2 and enthusiastic to practice the key skills taught on this course. The instructors for this group will run short sessions on and off the water with the emphasis on games and fun, all designed to grow the sailors experience and develop their confidence.  Plenty of opportunity to make new friends and simply enjoy being on the water.

Regatta fleet – sailors with some experience will enjoy these sessions, coaches will run exercises to develop the young sailors independent sailing thinking and boat handling prowess, with the overall aim being fun, and for these sailors to feel comfortable to happily participate in club racing with their sailing buddies.

Main fleet – race coaching for those more advanced sailors, your coaches will run exciting exercises designed to make you think and push your sailing expertise to a new level. We will look at boat handling and race strategy ensuring that you are well prepared for the 2019 sailing season. If you are new to Bowmoor a great way to meet our current youth sailors and a gateway to being involved in club activities.

Each sailor will need their own boat for these sessions, if you don’t yet own your own boat or simply would prefer to use one of the club fleet you can purchase a subscription for the annual boat hire fee via membership subscriptions. However hire boats will need to reserved early for training sessions as we have a limited number of boats for hire.

Fees for coaching this year are £20 per sailor per day for members and £25 for non members, a parent or guardian must remain on site and booking is now available.

As in previous years the Saturday coaching leads to the junior and youth May half term camp. If you intend on coming to camp it is important to join in with at least two of the coaching Saturdays, this ensures that our young sailors are familiar with the club coaching environment and ethos, have the appropriate skill level and have made some friends with whom to fully enjoy the camp experience!
