Aims:
1. To provide the next step for sailing/racing after or as an alternative to Optimists.
2. To improve the standard of Youth sailing/racing.
3. To provide training of a standard to get into RYA Youth Squads.
4. To integrate the Optimist and Youth fleets more fully.
5. To maintain and improve our position as a Volvo Champion Club.
6. To have fun!
Youth Boats:
The Club owns eight Toppers (two are new full race spec), two RS Feva's, four 420's, three Laser Radials (and two 4.7 rigs) and two RS200s for use by the Youth Group, depending on level of experience.

Activities
Club Racing: Youth members are encouraged to take part in the Club Racing programme to develop their sailing skills at Club level.
Open Events, Regattas and Championships: The Youth section are encouraged to travel to Open Events, Regattas and National Championships to expand their experience. For this to happen we need some willing parents to tow boats and to support young sailors attending events.
RYA Events: There are a number of RYA South West Zone events which youth members may wish to support.
Training Programme: A race training programme for Youth members is organized each year using the club and members own boats. Race training runs throughout the main season on occasional full days (usually a Saturday) and for short one hour training sessions before racing on Sunday mornings - meet at 09.30, on the water for 10.00-11.00.

Youth members who wish to train in a two handed boat need a partner and need to practice together. Practice can take the form of two boat tuning and does not have to be in formal training sessions. The more time you spend on the water practicing the more fluent your sailing will become. Please discuss with the Youth Manager.
Social Events: Various club social events are arranged through the year which Youth members are encouraged to attend, for example the 6 hour race which usually includes a meal, disco and camping weekend.
